7 Local Bakers To Follow On Instagram To Sweeten Up Your Feed

Even if you can’t eat what you see at any given moment, we must say that a colourful feed of desserts does wonders in perking you up after a dull day. And while many such accounts are based overseas, there are a number of Singapore bakers that have been dolling out some aesthetically-pleasing sweet treats to liven up Instagram. Here are some of our favourites.

One of the more well-known accounts around, Deco Chiffon Cakes owner Susanne Ng whips up whimsical renditions of popular mascots using flavourful chiffon cake. Often depicting pastel shades and designs faithful to the original for the character-based cakes, her sweet treats were featured on channels such as Cartoon Network and gifted to celebrities like K-pop star Chungha.

Are you a fan of tall, cylindrical layered cakes with an ornamental touch? Check out @sugarwhim, owned by Eliza, whose elegant cakes are perfect for milestone parties. Worried about guests finishing the cake too quickly? Spice up your order with one of her dessert tables laden with sugary sharing bites, which would make a lovely centrepiece to any party.

Another locally-based cake atelier, Sarah’s Loft takes themed treats to the next level with beautifully decorated layered cakes that look like they came straight out of a fantasy realm or a galaxy far, far away.

While they may have a brick-and-mortar flagship tucked away in Kreta Ayer, patisserie Sugar Thieves’ feed is chockful of buttery croissants, cakes, and dessert table spreads that will be sure to make your mouth water. The occasional doodle of their latest special also makes an appearance here and there—complementing the feed seamlessly.

The dishes on @honeyydrizzle may not be 100 per cent baked goods, but we must say that all the shots on Grace’s feed are gorgeous. Homemade tarts, macarons, and cake photos are interspersed with the occasional travel shot or even non-baked eats such as ice cream (all made at home!).

Pies are made to be shared, or so believes the folks behind @elijahpies, who go by the hashtag #ForSharingOnly. That being said, the large sharing portion isn’t the only one they offer—they also have personal pie sizes, and a series of minis that make for great party finger-food.
