Whenever you take your little ones out and you need something to keep them calm or occupied, what do you do? Most of us would turn to technology, handing them our handphones or a tablet to let them watch their favourite shows or play a game. But what about solutions that don’t require technology?

Today, let’s have some fun with busy bags!

Busy bags are fun little activities that you simply segregate into different coloured bags for the kids. You can choose whatever size of bag you like, and fill them up with educational, fun, quiet activities that will keep the little ones, well, busy!

Simply get a couple of coloured zip bags from Daiso or your local convenience/stationery stores and fill them up with activity items:

  1. Match & Count Cards
Kids love playing animals and colourful pictures, so you can turn it into an educational game by telling them that they have to match the right picture card to the right number. You can print out these cards yourself or buy them from educational toy stores.
  2. ABCs
Laminate letter print outs after printing these activity cards – on one side print a letter and on the other side print a relevant word (with a picture for aid if you want to). Kids can use erasable markers to trace out the letters, helping them to practise writing, reading and learning more words!
  3. Counting animals
Simply print out pictures of animals in black and white and get the kids to paste coloured stickers on each animal, and ask them to count how many animals are on the paper!
  4. Velcro Popsicle Sticks
Paste velcro onto each end of a popsicle stick and kids can have fun building their own little figures, encouraging their creative minds to run free.
  5. Tracing numbers
Print out these activity cards and laminate them. let the kids use erasable markers to trace out the numbers and with practice they’ll be asking to learn more about numbers in no time!
