This November, get ready to watch nursery rhymes come to life through The Nursery Rhymes Project, launched by The Theatre Practice. The three-part initiative consists an illustration and lyrics book, soundtrack and a fun-filled performance of the mini jukebox musical “Imagine Our Songs” that will get you on your feet to sing and dance along!

All are welcome to catch the free outdoor performance of “Imagine Our Songs” at 10.00am and 11.30am on 5 November 2017 at The Theatre Practice. Attendees will also stand a chance to meet some of the creative team and performers and get book autographs at the launch!

Long-time collaborators Kuo Jian Hong (Artistic Director of The Theatre Practice), Xiaohan (award-winning lyricist) and Julian Wong (Music Director), together with Lee Kow Fong aka Ah Guo (local illustrator), came together as the creative forces behind this project, compiled and added their artistry to mandarin nursery rhymes favourites, to address the need for quality and localised materials to help parents and teachers introduce nursery rhymes to young children at home and in school.

The Theatre Practice will unveil “Paint Our Songs”, a lyrics book featuring Singapore illustrator Lee Kow Fong aka Ah Guo’s iconic illustrations inspired by the nursery rhymes, with a dash of local flavour, at the launch. The book also comes with a 12-song soundtrack – “Sing Our Songs”, where classic mandarin nursery rhymes are spiced up with Julian Wong’s new arrangements and sung by local talents including recent Sing! China 2nd runner up Joanna Dong, singers and theatre performers Sugie Phua, Ethel Yap, Ric Liu and many more.

From 5 November, “Paint Our Songs” will be on sale at The Theatre Practice, Hook on Books and Grassroots Book Room, and “Sing Our Songs” will also be available for download on iTunes, Spotify, KKBox and more. Following the launch, The Theatre Practice will also be bringing the “Imagine Our Songs” performance to neighbourhoods near you, including River Valley (11 Nov 2017), Chong Pang (12 Nov 2017), Bedok and Toa Payoh (18 Nov 2017).
