Packing Essentials: A Visit to Universal Studios Singapore

With the September holidays right around the corner, perhaps you’ve thought about adding a little more fun to the short break by taking the kids to Universal Studios Singapore (USS)! The kids will definitely be excited for a fun-filled day before hitting the books again, but remember to pack these essentials before you head out so that you have the best experience!

  1. Umbrella/Poncho
Given our unpredictable weather, there could be unexpected showers during your day of fun. Remember to bring umbrellas or ponchos for everyone to avoid splurging on the park’s ponchos which are $5 a piece. Ponchos will also come in handy during the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure and the Madagascar: A Crate Adventure rides!
  2. Cash
Everything at USS costs $5 and up, so if the kids are yearning for some popcorn while waiting in line or everyone’s stomachs starts to growl moving from zone to zone, you’ll find yourself fishing for your wallet pretty often. Not to worry though, if you forget to prepare cash in advance, there are ATM machines at certain food areas.
  3. Water Bottle
There are water coolers available all around the park, so you can bring your personal water bottles and drink up. Drinks sold at the park are also $5 and up.
  4. Extra Clothes
Besides enjoying the rides that have water elements, kids will also tend to run wild in the park and perspire heavily, so bringing a change of clothes is advisable. This also helps you save money on the drying pods!
  5. Plastic Bags/Waterproof Bags
Plastic bags are great for your wet clothes, and you can use them to cover your bags during rides if you don’t plan to spend $12 for 4-hours of locker rental or $15 for a full day. Consider bringing a waterproof bag or waterproof phone cases if you want to take extra care.
  6. Portable Fans/Chargers
As you will be out and about the whole day, bring a portable fan to cool yourselves and the kids as waiting in crowded lines can get a little stuffy. Make sure to bring portable chargers as well so that you don’t end up with a flat phone when you want to take pictures or record videos of your time there.
  7. Card Games/Portable Toys
If the kids like playing handy games like a fidget cube or children’s card games, you may want to consider bringing these compact play options along to keep them entertained (to avoid carrying a heavy iPad or running out of phone battery) while waiting in line or if the weather turns bad and you spend some time waiting for the sky to brighten up.
