No longer viewed as extra help for struggling students, tuition has become a necessity against the increasingly challenging school syllabus. These days, tutors are expected to teach ahead of the curriculum to give children a boost in the ever-competitive education system. But beyond learning the right methods to score well in exams and achieve good grades, can students gain more out of their tuition sessions?
Turns out it is possible, at the right place that is. Enter Kimiya Learning Place! With over a decade of experience working with students and developing its own teaching materials, Kimiya launched its very first MOE Registered Tuition Centre in 2013, offering GCE A-Level and O-Level subjects. Kimiya’s team of mathematics tutors, led by Mr Lim, ex-PSE scholar and a former secondary school teacher with over 15 years of teaching experience, are advocates of the innovative three ’A’s method: ‘Acquire, Apply and Appreciate’.
For its most fundamental phase, Kimiya helps students acquire the basic understanding of each subject through in-depth, yet precise and easy to understand methods. Going beyond textbook concepts, they are adequately prepped to tackle school assessments. Furthermore, students are able to choose from one-to-one classes, or a group size of five or 10 students per class – tutees are effectively engaged and are able to get the most out of each session.
Putting theory to practice, students are given the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned through a series of meaningful questions and tests. To help them gain an advantage over their peers, they are equipped with analytical and keyword-recognition skills that will come in handy when facing the rigour of examinations.
Going through the unique ‘feedback’ stage, students at Kimiya are inculcated with the ability to take ownership of their education journey, and appreciate their learning. They are transformed into higher learners who are fully equipped to excel beyond the academics.
Kimiya believes that no child with the right learning attitude will be left behind. As a result, they strive to promote self-confidence in their students. With these value-adds, there’s little wonder that Kimiya has helped their students achieve a distinction rate that rises above the national average!
